Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop or basket, which is elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular court and involves various skills, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defending. Players can score by making field goals, which are worth two points if taken from inside the three-point line and three points if taken from beyond it, as well as free throws, which are worth one point each and awarded after certain fouls. Basketball emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and athleticism. The sport originated in the late 19th century and has since grown to become one of the most popular and widely followed sports in the world, featuring professional leagues like the NBA and international competitions such as the Olympics.
